You keep looking at the phone
Hoping that she would text
The text never comes
The hope never dies
—————
You keep hoping despite
Her being indifferent to your feelings
What if she is just playing
Taking her time to decide
Maybe I was too aggressive
I pushed her to shell
It’s all my falut
Self doubt takes over
Common sense goes for a toss
————-
Memories flush of all the good times
When feelings felt real
Unperturbed by what interpretations either of us would make
There was no tagging to the bonding
But it gave all the respite
————–
Why would people not value such connections
Why would someone value worldly affirmations more than their happiness
And if someone is not even capable to make such an easy decision
Are they even the right choice
————-
And then everyone is different
Maybe this attitude pushed her away
Everything seems easy to you
You don’t delve into the intricacies
People need their time to decide
People care too much about their loved ones
Their feelings, their approvals
You don’t – Although you have your reasons sorted out
You know if you aren’t happy yourself no-matter what you do for others
It won’t translate into any happiness for either
But not everyone thinks the same way
So they need space and time to think
————–
So what do we do now?
Wait, till it becomes crushingly bad to bear any longer
For what love it is, that comes without cost
And what feelings are, that are not worth waiting for
Even though you are certain, your heart will break
Even though you are certain, your time will be wasted
But you’d choose to cling to that tiny hope
Because you are not looking to settle
You are looking for magic.
Magic happens when people choose to believe
What seems highly improbable.
